The Impact 4000 Ballistic Rail-Mounted Laser Rangefinder (LRF-IMP4000) is the all-in-one range and ballistic problem solver that delivers point-and-shoot solutions for long-range competitors and open-country hunters. This rail-mounted laser rangefinder provides users with range, ballistic, and weather data via the integrated GeoBallistics solver, on-board Environmental Sensors, and patented Wind Bearing Capture Mode. It mounts solidly to any picatinny-style rail or rings with a diving board mount, and functions in places where smartphones cannot.
The Impact 4000 requires calibration during initial setup, prior to being mounted, and recalibration every time the user significantly changes location, typically 30 miles or more. Calibration should be performed outside and away from large metal structures or objects, as it is crucial for capturing accurate target direction, inclination angle, and wind bearing in relation to the target.
The Impact 4000 offers three range mode options: HCD (Horizontal Component Distance), LOS (Line of Sight), and BAL (Ballistics) mode. HCD mode is the primary mode when not using the on-board ballistic solver, providing the critical horizontal component distance. LOS mode is intended for users who are using slope-correcting ballistic drop data cards, ballistic cell phone applications, or other devices with ballistic programs, as it displays the actual line of sight range with no ballistic correction for slope. BAL mode, on the other hand, displays the range, slope incline, reticle units, and the ballistic correction based on the selected profile, allowing users to utilize the on-board ballistic solver.
The Impact 4000 also provides two target modes: Normal Mode and Extended Laser Range (ELR) Mode. Normal Mode is the standard mode, providing the target's range with the strongest result, while ELR Mode allows for ranging smaller, less reflective targets at extended distances.
The Impact 4000 comes with ten common default Ballistic Profiles that can be used as is or customized to reflect the user's specific setup. The Weather screen displays temperature, pressure, humidity, and calculated density altitude, which can be measured by the on-board Environmental Sensors or entered manually. The Wind and Target Direction screen shows the direction of the target from the user and the direction of the wind in degrees.
Backed by Vortex's unlimited, unconditional, lifetime, VIP Warranty, the Impact 4000 is a rugged and reliable solution that takes the guesswork out of long-range shooting with quick, accurate ballistic corrections using the easy-to-read display from the shooting position. It can be paired via Bluetooth with the user's phone on the GeoBallistics app, providing a seamless connection and comprehensive ballistics data.
